President Biden Turns 80, Becoming Oldest US President in History

A Long and Storied Career

President Joe Biden turns 80 years old on Sunday, November 20th, 2022, making him the first octogenarian to ever serve in the highest office of the United States.

A Lifetime in Politics

Biden's political career spans decades, beginning with his election to the United States Senate in 1972 at the age of 29. He served as a senator for 36 years, during which time he held several leadership positions, including Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee.

In 2008, Biden was elected as the 47th Vice President of the United States, serving under President Barack Obama for eight years. In 2020, he was elected as the 46th President of the United States, assuming office at the age of 78, making him the oldest person to ever be sworn in as president.

Biden's presidency has been marked by several challenges, including the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan, and the ongoing crisis in Ukraine. Despite these challenges, Biden has also achieved several significant accomplishments, including the passage of the American Rescue Plan and the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.

As Biden enters his 80th year, he remains a popular figure in American politics. His approval ratings have remained relatively stable throughout his presidency, and he is widely expected to run for a second term in 2024.
